Hal gets some love
With the offense finding it's way back, it seems as though the defense has become a bit of an afterthought. I know the team has been performing very well of late, but let me just take a moment to say what a great job Hal is doing between the pipes. It seems with Halbert in net, we are able to push Timmmmmmay(!) out in front more. Thus having the luxury of 3 goalies on the field (see Mr. Jim). It is because of this situation, ( in this writer's opinion) that we are able to neutralize most thrusts towards the net. A phenominom known as blocking the challengers advances. Although sometimes if you ply a little alcohol to the defense you may be able to drop their guard and achieve deep penetration. However, you may be frustrated once more by Hal's goal blocking. He has a unique way of preventing the ball from reaching the glory land. More of this later. I must get back to my day job of writing trashy paperback novels. " Give Hal the love".

HAC Racks up their Second Win.
The Black and gold had another successful day on the field with a 4-0 win over pesky Mantua. These two teams battled to a tie the last two times they played. For only the second time in recorded history, we had just the right amount of bench strength. Ron did his usual thing with his second hat trick in a row. Billy M tallied with his first of the year, and Hal had another shutout. This week we had two great plays of the day. The first was Ron moving so fast he stepped out of his shoe, yet continued on to score his third goal. Nice job, but maybe he was outdone by Hal's beautiful kick save on a point blank shot from the Mantua striker. Another big event was the fact that Oscar only got hurt once. On a cold, blustery day, in the goal crease proved to be a painful place to be. Bodies were strewn in the crease with victims from both sides laying in pain. Once more, Hal decided to pick up Victor's game by bashing him from behind in the head. I do believe it might be time to purchase a helmut for Vic. Finally, I think the highlight for everyone was when yours truly made a remarkable appearance on offense. Remarkable in the fact that once more I came up with a new and rarely heard of infraction. What kind of crap is that? Next week is the big test with CH East waiting to knock us down. If the last two games are any indication, it should be a good one. See you there.  OOPs. In my haste I almost forgot to mention something. Make sure you check the stats page. Billy says at this pace I could possibly break the all time assist record. Thank you.

HAC jumps out of the gate!
The boys in black started the Spring season nicely with a 9-0 win over Laurel Springs. The score was not indicative of the way the game was played. Playing most of the game in a soaking rain, the ball was slick and difficult to manage. Fortunately for Hainesport, the ball had a tendancy to bounce our way. One play of note was Mikey's toe ball rocket off the far post and in. Ron scored a few goals and I had a ton of assists. (see stat sheet) All in all it was a good day for the boys. Oscar managed to get a game in without any injuries. Kudos to newly appointed Coach VW. He did a fine job of getting everyone in and out. Next week we play at Mantua, a team that tied us twice last Fall. We're gonna need a better effort this time around if we want to come away with "W". See you there.
