Ouch!
Due to scheduling conflicts, the Moorestown II game was switched to 6/8/06. Although we showed up with only 11 players, it may have been HAC's best performance of the Spring season. The 11 who showed put on a great display of defense and were well fatigued for their efforts. Coach Bill didn't like the way his nose looked, so he had Will realign it with his cleats. From what I hear the postgame show at Ott's turned out to be an even better performance.

The Norse Men Romp!

After battling Moorestown to 0-0 tie, HAC promptly went out and fell flat on their collective faces. We did not challenge well at all. If not for the golden head ball of Danny from a nice feed by Billy M, Team HAC would have been shutout for the third game in a row. Oh how the almost mighty have fallen. I'd like to blame the loss on the fact that we have a ton of injuries, but that would not escape the fact that NB came to play and we did not. The blue army made run after run. They saw blood in the water and capitalized on 4 well earned goals. Congrats to NB. We play Cherry Hill East this Sunday (Father's Day). Fortunately we will have at least 11 guys (maybe) for the 92 degree weather. See you then for the final game.

HAC: n.v. adj. Latin, to pretend, imposter, no show, to give false appearance
In what was built as #1 vs. #2, only #1 showed up. Having basically a full team, HAC did not play up to expectation. It may be more correct to say Deptford did. From the opening tip, they controlled the ball in our end and kept us contained there for quite some time. It seemed we were beaten to the ball on every occasion. Finding ourselves down 2-0, HAC did not give up the fight. On a nice head ball pass and ensuing rocket on net, the Deptford defense turned aside a powerful blast with a headball save. Although we continued to try and muster a rally, that play pretty much summed up the day. There is a silver lining to the day however. Yours truly scored his first ever outdoor goal. Not only that, it turned out to be the game winner. The bad news in all this is the fact I put it in our own net. At least it went in. In any case, a very gutty performance by a group of players whose doctors did not clear them to play. Jim, Carl, Billy F., Victor, Ron, and VW all played with their normal high intensity and winced their way off the field at the end of the game. This along with Doug (indefinite) and Chris and Brad (excused non-injury ) put a serious damper on our ability to score. Make no mistake though, Deptford was ready and able to put on a show. They pressured every ball and could have piled it on if not for the efforts of Rich in goal and Billy, Jimmy, Will, Mark, and  Timmy on defense. It's best to put this  game behind us as we embark on a road trip to Moorestown. We definitely need to bring our game this Thursday. Morestown II has  a talented team, aside from Cedrick the Entertainer of course. Although they are a class bunch of guys, they won't hesitate to take it to us on the pitch. (still don't know why they call it that) See you there. Still waiting for the censors to finish editing Jimmy's video clip. Will get it out when they send it back.
