HAC poised for the usual midseason letdown
Given the opportunity to put some ground between themselves and the rest of the league, HAC failed again. CHS came out swinging and took an early 1-0 lead. Although we put the ball in the net three times, none would count in the scoring column. Temp Coach Ron agreed that the two were offside and the third should have gone deeper in the net tobe official. "When you get a shot, you gotta bury it"! Ron said, as limped away. "Things are gonna be different around here come January. With Vince Y up top, scoring won't be an issue"! I thank you for the bone Ron. Moving on. As we started to apply a little moe pressure, CHS put the final nail in the coffin with a nice shot from the left. Yes we were a little short on the bench and somewhat injured, Cherry Hill earned a tough win and left us with our first loss of the season. On a happier note, Jim G was looking a little sexier than normal while sporting his new Under Armour. Oscar was impressed! Next week, Gibbsboro II and Frank O the Goon. Good luck.

No Letdown as HAC squeezes By Marlton
Despite coming off a big win against the M men, HAC played inspired offense.....except when it came to finishing the plays. Marlton's goalie came through with many big saves. However, I would need more than two hands worth of fingers (how may is that?) to count all the missed shots from in close. I think the only guys not guilty of this hex would be the fullbacks. The play was somewhat lopsided, but Marlton would not go away. They also had their shares of almost glory. Fortunately for the golden boys (that's us) the ball went into theit net enough times to post a "W" for us. VW put us on the board first with a really nice finish back against the grain. Starting with Jim Kaz on the back line, to Victor G, to Joe Pepe, and finally to VW. All this just 2 minutes into the game. We had to wait until the second half to breath a little easier when Victor P provided the insurance goal in the third quarter with a nice headball off Billy M's corner kick. The passes up and down the field were really nice to watch. For whatever reason, we could not finish on net. Ron requested I take the team aside after the game to show them the proper way to put the ball on net with a well positioned toe ball. Thank you Ron. On a different note, Danny says I'm getting pretty proficient at running the 1 minute drill from the sidelines. Thank you Dan. I will see to it that you get at LEAST 1 minute of action during each quarter. Next week Cherry Hill Northeastern West Quadrant III. Gonna need a good showing against these guys. Hope you enjoyed the blogs. Gonna be a couple of weeks before you get any more. Go HAC. And I mean that.

Important Win Over Moorestown
You could tell it was a big game by the amount of players who showed up on both sides. Of course it's still early in the season and the injuries haven't taken their toll. However, both teams seemed primed for a good game. It wasn't dissapointing. Billy M opened up the scoring with a bullet into the net after a rebound on a corner kick in the second quarter. Moorestown tied it up on a nice finish by the tall dude with the long hair. Again on a corner kick. It seemed like HAC was getting the better of play in the second half, but not by much. It wasn't until Victor P took a nice through pass down a bumpy field and put it past the netminder for a 2-1 lead that would not be surrendered. The play was intense and clean. A good example of why the league was formed. Coach Ron commented about how well the team looked....especially in his absence. Jimmy was able to mind his tongue and only spewed 5 verbal lashings in the referee's direction. Oscar and Dan provided some good pressure up front while the midfield turned in another fine performance. The defense proved they can play well despite the injuries to myself and Doug , along with the overseas absence of Will. No....not Iraq. The poor sole is suffering in the likes of Paris, Rome, Munich, Barcelona............Not sure when Will  will be finishing his European tour ( I said Will will), but if he doesn't get back soon, he'll be riding the pine with me and Doug. Nice job boys. Next week, Marlton.

Lucky to Get a Point!
On a day when few people showed up, HAC was lucky to walk away with a tie. Although some opportunities were available, the ball just wouldn't go in the net. For the 4th game in a row and the 5th time overall, a PK was awarded. This time to Northern Burlington. The soccer gods must have been smiling on us, because the usually sure footed Carmine hit the crossbar on his PK attempt. Both sides hit the post at least one time during the game. It seems the Norsemen who usually give us fits are primed for a good Fall season. Fortunately for HAC, Rich was able to come up big in net. Next week.....Moorestown. Nuff said.
