MIDDLESEX COUNTY PRISON COORDINATING
COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER
MCPCC
met on Dec. 13, 2006 in West Newton, with Chairwoman Mary Ann Donaldson,
Coordinator Carol Winton, Treasurer Tom Crowther, Secretary Marjorie
Moerschner, Bill Bergquist, Lynne Sullivan and Elizabeth Woodbridge present.
Mary Ann opened the meeting with prayer.
Tom
reported that he paid MCPCC's dues to the Criminal Justice Policy Coalition for
this year and next. He filed an annual financial report with the state as
required by law, together with the $15. yearly fee.
He
took an astonishing 2689 Christmas cards to Chaplain Thomas at Billerica on
Dec. l. Heartfelt thanks to the many churches and individuals who contributed
so generously!
The
art work from the exhibit held on October 15 in Lowell has now been returned to
the prison as agreed. The glass protecting the pictures was replaced with
non-breakable styrene glass for safety reasons.
Carol has spoken with
Sean McAdam, Director of Human Services at Billerica. He will meet with us in
January.
When
Susan Rourke, Director of Reintegration Services at Billerica, spoke to us in
November, she indicated a need for men's clothing, especially shirts, for men
going to job interviews. This sounds like something we could help with.
We need to think about a
fund-raiser. An event featuring an area singing group has been suggested. Lynne
will make enquiries.
NEXT MEETING: JANUARY 10, 2007 at 7 PM
