The DeLorean Automobile was manufactured in Northern Ireland in a small town named Dunmurray. Production began in mid
1981 until the plant closed in late 1982 and was sold to Consolidated Industries. Consolidated continued manufacturing the
DeLorean to use up warehouse inventory into 1983. A total of 8,500 cars were produced with the majority being shipped to the
United States. The original plant is still in use today producing aluminum engine parts.
I purchased my car from a private owner in North Carolina with 106,000 miles in 1997. Although barely running the body
was in excellant condition. It took another year of TLC and some new engine parts to get the engine back in good running order
plus a new automatic transmission computer. I do all the maintenance work on my DeLorean as it is very easy to work on.
