A funny thing happened a few mornings ago. I brought my breakfast
to work, intending to eat at my desk. (It’s definitely a negative habit,
since I end up eating while I’m doing other things, and I tend to not pay much attention to what and how much I’m
actually eating.)
Somewhere around the second bite or so the very tip of the white plastic fork broke off and disappeared in
the fried egg. I poked around for a minute looking for it but it was perfectly disguised!
I decided that I would just eat carefully and chew delicately, so that when I came across the plastic bit
I could isolate it and remove it.
I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed an egg so much. By
forcing myself to concentrate on each little bite I really appreciated the flavor and the texture and the entire experience
so much more!
Now, I wouldn’t recommend hiding broken bits of plastic tableware in your food to enhance your enjoyment. However, from time to time pretending that you’re examining each bite in that
much detail will definitely make you aware of the flavors and the aromas!
And no, I never did find the little bit of plastic…..
