Our Goal:
Our goal is to deliver the safest patient care possible during surgery. Some hospitals
employ individuals to perform our job that have not graduated from an accredited surgical technology program. Our
focus is to pass legislation requiring individuals employed as surgical technologists, to hold a current National
Certification established by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (formerly the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or LCC-ST). This would
ensure only properly trained and qualified surgical technologists would be in our operating rooms across the state.
Surgical Technologists are the only member of the surgical team that are not state regulated.
Surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, and registered nurses are all state licensed. Surgical technologists
deserve to be recognized as an integral part of this team as professionals.
