About Scouting

Who Can Join?

Any boy between 11 and 18 can join the Boy Scouts. Just contact any Boy Scout, Scout Master, Scout parent or the School to get information on joining. You can also contact the Tidewater Council's office or just come to one of our meetings and introduce yourself. That's all it takes to get on the road to ADVENTURE AND FUN!

Benefits of Joining

The Boy Scouts are dedicated to making each boy a stronger individual. We build character, responsibility, self-reliance and the ability to work in a team environment. You will learn to be at home in the woods, on mountains and in your own neighborhood. We camp six to eight times a year in addition to our annual trip to summer camp for a week. This year it was Woodruff Scout Reservation in Georgia, last year it was Shenandoah Scout Camp right here in Virginia. We've taken trips to Washington DC, toured the White House, gone to the FBI Academy in Quantico and celebrated the the anniversary of flight at Kitty Hawk, NC.
