Stephen
Walker was born and raised in the Washington DC area and attended Woodward High School where he played football,
wrestled, ran track and played racquetball. Stephen went on to attend Shepard
College where he earned a degree in Sports Management. At Shepard
he played football for 4 years, 3 of them as a starter and was named to the All Conference team.
Stephen has been involved with local youth sports for the past 3 years including both flag
and tackle football programs. He was a self employed entrepreneur for many years and has developed several highly successful
businesses. He currently runs a mortgage office.
Stephen and his family have lived in the Clarksburg
area for 10 years.
Chris Brown has been involved with wrestling for 36 years.
He excelled in high school academics, Football, Wrestling and Track, and received the top “Student-Athlete Award”
at North Chicago HS in Illinois. He wrestled at the United States
Air Force Academy (USAFA) earning 4 varsity letters while leading his team in pins his senior year. His first taste of coaching was after graduating college as a USAFA candidate recruiter, counselor,
and Assistant Wrestling Coach. He went on to compete nationally and internationally
for the All-Air Force Freestyle and Greco-Roman teams. Chris was a 13-time All-Air
Force Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and 11-time Freestyle Champion. His greatest
personal success was runner-up at the U.S. Greco-Roman National Championships and 6th place at the Final Olympic
Trials. He was ranked as high as #2 in the USA at his weight class in Greco-Roman wrestling.
Chris has coached youth wrestling for 7 years. Over
the last two years he rebuilt the Germantown based Seneca
Wildcats Youth Wrestling program to a well-respected and championship caliber team.
He has also successfully coached a combined 26 years at the High School, College, Air Force, National, and International
levels of competition.
Chris earned as Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with emphasis in Organizational Behavior
from the Air Force Academy and a Masters Degree from Webster
University in Human Resource Management and Development. He is a retired and highly decorated Air Force Communications and Computer Systems Officer. He has also earned top awards as a regional and national sales manager with three software, hardware,
and internet based companies. Chris is currently a Maryland licensed and top producing Realtor with Weichert, Realtors.
Chris and his wife Claudia relocated from California and have resided
in Boyds, Maryland for 5 years. Their three sons play a variety of sports but all share dads’ dedication and passion for wrestling.
Bill Jessup was born in Alexandria, and raised in Gaithersburg, MD. He
attended Summit Hall ES where he played youth baseball, football and basketball with Gaithersburg Sports Associaiton; Gaithersburg
Jr, and Gaithersburg High. He also lettered in tennis. Bill graduated from Florida
State University with BA in Russian language
& studies; and has a year of post-graduate work at the University
of Maryland.
Bill has been coaching
youth sports for over 5 years. He coached baseball for 4 seasons with Damascus
Sports Association and was also the baseball equipment manager for two years. Bill
coached the 7/8 baseball team with Clarksburg Sports Association in the spring of 2007.
He has also coached a flag football team for Clarksburg Sports Association in 2007. Bill
coached baseball at the 2006 FCA Summer Power Camp in Gaithersburg, MD and is a NYSCA certified coach for Baseball and Football. Bill has
been a Cub Scout leader in Clarksburg Pack 1307 for the past 4 years.
Bill has been employed
as a Deputy U.S. Marshal, Federal Air Marshal, and Special Agent with the government for almost 14 years. I’m currently a Deputy U.S. Marshal in Washington,
DC. He lives in Clarksburg
with his wife and two sons.
Dawn was born
in NY and raised between NY and NJ where she played high school softball. Dawn has a passion for baseball, professional, college and little league. Her favorite
team is the New York Yankees and her family supports the Cal Ripken Senior Collegiate League team, The Bethesda Big Train,
of which her son is also a bat boy. Dawn has been actively involved with youth baseball since 2000 with her son
and daughter. Her coaching experience includes the 2001/2002 BCC Dodgers 2nd grade
team, 2006 9U UMAC Yankees and the 2007 CSA 10U Select team which played in the MCBA.
Dawn
has an Associates degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management and Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland.
She has worked for Marriott International for 16 years, the last 13 years at their corporate headquarters in various
senior management positions. Currently, Dawn has responsibility for the support of over 2000 hotels, the management of
multiple projects and has done an extensive amount of public speaking. Dawn is
also an active member of the PTA and volunteers her time at he children's elementary school throughout the school
year.
Dawn spent some time living in both Florida and California before settling in Germantown, MD in 1994. She has two children, a son and
daughter both actively involved in multiple sports.
Renise Freeman has
been involved in youth Track and Field since high school, where she ran cross country. Renise later developed an interest
in mentoring youth athletes and began volunteering her time and resources to work with private track teams. After her daughter Bailee showed potential and interest in the high jump field event, Renise volunteered
to become High Jump coach and has worked with teams that have participated in Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and USA Track and
Field (USATF) local, regional and national meets.
Renise is originally
from Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania where she attended Cheyney
State University. During her
time at Cheyney State
University, Renise participated in cheerleading. She later transferred to Columbia Union College where she graduated with Bachelor
of Science degree in Business with an emphasis in finance. Renise later attended Columbia
Union College where she obtained
her Master of Business Administration.
From the beginning, Renise
has had a great passion for the sport of track and field. She values the time
spent with mentoring the youth in her community. Renise currently resides in Montgomery
County with her husband and three daughters.
Lynn Ellis has 13 years experience in the cheer and dance industry. In addition to coaching at both the
youth rec and allstar level.
Lynn has directed, managed, and operated two of the most successful cheer programs in the area winning numerous
national titles on the competition floor and building a solid feeder program for area high school cheer teams. She has judged for highly recognized organizations up and down the east coast
from local competitions to major national events. Her certifications include: NYSCA (National Youth Sports Coaches Association) and AACCA (American Association of
Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors).
A lifelong Montgomery
County resident, Lynn graduated from Wheaton High School. She currently lives with her husband and children in Germantown.
Tammy Layman was born and
raised in Montgomery County and graduated from Gaithersburg High School
where she was a baton twirler for the Trojan band.
Tammy has been coaching baton and poms for 27 years. She is a certified coach
and Level II Judge certified by the United States Twirling Association. She was
a key principal in the formation of the Gaithersburg TNT Majorette Drum Corps. In
1980, she began as the corps instructor responsible for choreography and coaching of the 100+ members. Later, she took on the responsibility of Parade Chairman and from 1994 to 1998 she was the Corps Director. Although the group was mainly a parade corps, they also participated in floor competition
on the state, regional and national level. Over the corps’ 18 year history,
the group won over 500 awards under Tammy’s guidance and instruction.
In 2000, Tammy established
the Rhapsody Baton & Pom Corps. This competitive group consisted of children
between the ages of 3-18 and held an average membership of 45 students per year. Over the past 5 years, the Rhapsody poms
have won 10 State Championship titles and 8 Regional Championship titles in several age division categories. In 2006, the Rhapsody teams traveled to Hershey, PA, Millersville, PA,
Kutztown, PA and Savannah, GA.
Tammy lives in Clarksburg and is currently working as a senior legal assistant for
a Rockville based law firm.
Tom Culliton has been involved in coaching football since 1996.
He helped start up the St. Francis football program in Derwood, MD, beginning with helping out on a team of 17 kids. The program
has grown considerably since, with Tom coaching a team every year. His teams have won several championships, including the
pony championship (9-10) in the Montgomery County Recreation League in 1998, two championships at the intermediate (12-13)
level in the Rockville Football League (1999, 2000), and a championship at the unlimited level (12-14) in the Capital Beltway
League in 2004. Tom also placed two other teams as semi-finalists in the Capital Beltway League playoffs. Tom has spent considerable
time serving as a coach and referee of flag football games in the spring. He also directed several youth football camps that
included area HS coaches.
Tom immerses himself in studying the game, attends numerous clinics,
and consults with youth, high school, and collegiate coaches every year to become better at coaching.
Tom earned both a master's and bachelor's degree from the University
of Maryland. He graduated from Walter Johnson HS and currently serves as the Acting Director of the Special Projects
Office in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Tom lives in Gaithersburg, MD with his wife and three children. Both sons are currently attending college and his daughter
will be entering high school in the fall.
John Viqueira is a lifelong
resident of Montgomery County. He attended Winston
Churchill High School, where
he played Varsity football, baseball and basketball. In 1969 and 1970 the WCHS
basketball was ranked as one of the top area teams, and John played with the team in
the State Championship games at Maryland’s Cole Field
House.
John attended East Carolina University,
where he majored in Physical Education and played basketball at the point guard position.
In 1971, the team earned the co-championship of the Southern Conference. He
transferred to the University of
Maryland, where he graduated as a Bachelor of Science with High Honors in the field of Physical Education.
Throughout his adult life,
John has continued to play and coach both youth and adults in baseball and basketball. He has lived in the Boyds/Clarksburg
area with his wife and children for 24 years.
