COMMUNITY SPIRIT a WINNER at the 5K RUN & KIDS FUN RUN!!

Rocky Hill PRIDE extended to the Clarksburg community on Saturday, April 19th when a number of Wildcats participated in the first annual Clarksburg 5K Run/Walk and the KIDS FUN RUN!!  A beautifully sunny spring morning greeted almost 250 enthusiastic runners and volunteers to this inaugural event and Rocky Hill was well represented by students, staff and RHMS families!

Some of the student runners that were being cheered for included Wildcat 8th graders Austin Malpass with a time of 21:41 and Connor Miller with a time of 21:40.  Congratulations to Connor for placing 3rd in the 1-19 age category, edging out Austin at the finish line by one second!  RHMS students, Lexie Kambich and Alexa Allen, were also on hand at this early morning 5K race and displaying their PRIDE by volunteering!

Mr. Whiting and Mr. Hyde had a strong showing in the Clarksburg 5K Run and added to the community spirit as our sentimental favorites!!  Mr. Whiting’s time was an impressive 27:43, while Mr. Hyde demonstrated great P-R-I-D-E with a final time of 31:40. Prizes were awarded and there was food, music and activities for the kids highlighting the Clarksburg 5K Run/Walk!!  Children participating in the Kids Fun Run received a medallion to commemorate this first-time community event!

Designated as a charity event, the Clarksburg Sports Association (www.CSAsports.org) and the Montgomery County Special Olympics were the beneficiaries of the Clarksburg 5K Run, Walk & KIDS FUN RUN.  The Clarksburg 5K race was presented by Cedarbrook Community Church and sponsored by Newland Communities.  Moody Insurance, Chris Dyer Homes, Clarksburg Orthodontics, Healthtrax & many other sponsors made this a successful 5K and a very memorable time for the community!  For a complete listing of sponsors as well as race results and times, go online to www.CTC5K.org.
