Currently engaged in private practice, begun in 1992. Work has included single family and multifamily residential,
low and high end, restaurants, offices, and religious buildings.
CONSULTING
Office of the Attorney General, State of New York: Consulting Architect, 2006 to present.
For the past year I have been working as a consultant for the New York State Attorney General, Bureau of Real Estate
Finance, reviewing condominium and cooperative offering plans for compliance with State and City laws, codes, and
regulations.
Previous Employment:
PM Architecture., New York, New York,
Consulting Architect, September 2002 to 2006. Supervision of construction of about 25 buildings
in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan. This work included all controlled inspections (foundations, fire-stopping, etc), and
review and approval of all requisitions and change orders.
Donald A. Denis, AIA, PC, Aquebogue, New York, Senior Architect,
June 2000-January 2002.
This is a small office (four persons), and my work of necessity included
all aspects of design, production and site supervision. Work was about 75% high-end residential and 25% commercial. All work
was done with DataCAD.
Smiros&Smiros Architects, Glen Cove, New York. Senior
Architect, 1999-2000.
My primary function was as a lead designer in new projects, analyzing zoning
and the program, relating it to the site, developing designs. Work was 95% high-end residential, new construction and substantial
renovations. As the office is small, I also did a fair amount of production work. All work was done with AutoCAD.
New York City Board of Education, Division of School Facilities, Area
Manager of Maintenance, Brooklyn and Staten Island, Sept. 1993 to Sept. 1995.
Responsibilities: Oversaw a staff of over two hundred persons in the maintenance
and/or rehabilitation of about 470 school buildings in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island. Designed conversion of
office building to school building, and oversaw its conversion.
Shelly Kroop, Architect, P.C. New York, New York, Chief of Staff,
Senior Designer, Senior Production Architect, 1982-1991
Duties included meeting with clients, buildings departments, programming,
cost-estimating, budgeting, design, specification writing and review, shop drawing review, code review, construction supervision,
and direction of a staff of up to ten persons in preparation of design and construction documents.
Peter Gisolfi Associates, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, Project
Architect, 1981-1982
Duties included meeting with clients, zoning and planning boards, programming,
cost-estimating, budgeting, design, code review, construction supervision, and direction of a staff three person team in preparation
of design and construction documents.
Philip Johnson, Architect, P.C., New York, New York, Architect,
1978-81
Duties included design and production of construction documents.
