Gizmo Resist a Treat Right Under his Nose to Snooze in the Bowling Lane!

7/14/06: Merynda Follows up On Gizmo's Progress:
"I visited Gizmo today for a follow up. He was with the Alzheimer's residents. He resides at the Brighton Gardens Senior Assisted Living Facility in Middletown, NJ.

He appears healthier and very happy. You can see from the pictures today that he is almost always on his back or lying on someone's feet for a scratch or tummy rub. The staff love him and report he is gentle, loving, good natured, and very attentive to the residents.

Today, he laid right in the middle of a bowling set up and they had to bribe him to move out of the "lane". The staff reports that he has full run of the facility and prefers to sleep where there are staff around during the night.

One gentleman I spoke with told me a story of a dog he once had that Gizmo reminds him of. He leaned down from his wheelchair to give Gizmo an ear scratch and included him in the conversation. Giz listened politely, licked his hand and then went in search of another tummy rub.

Staff and residents alike love Gizmo and many I talked with today (even though they are victims of Alzheimer's) told me they think of Gizmo as someone they love and like being friends with. "
