The Goodies Sing Songs From The Goodies

Tracks on this album are: All Things Bright And Beautiful,  Ride My Pony, Stuff That Gibbon, Mummy I Don't Like My Meat, Show Me The Way, Goodies Theme, Sparrow Song, Taking You Back, Sunny Morning, Winter Sportsman, and Spacehopper.

Island ILPS 9452.  Released November 1976.

Contains the songs: The Policemans Opera, Cactus in My Y-Fronts,  Elizabeth Rules – UK!, Blowing Off, I Wish I Could Get High, Synthesizer Man, She Wouldn't Understand, and I Wish I Had Something To Say.

The Goodies move to Island Records also marks a change of style.  The Policemans Opera is a mini rock opera (described on the album’s back cover as “A major Work in four movements – with a few bits in between”).  Several of the songs also contain more adult themes than in the Goodies’ previous work.

A version of Cactus in my Y- Fronts turns up in the episode The Goodies – Almost Live.

The Complete A Poke In The Eye (With A Sharp Stick)   (CD)

2 CD Set

Castle Communications Australia Ltd -  ACSCD 020.    Released 1991.

2 Cassette Set

Castle Communications Australia Ltd -  ESDMC 153.    Released 1991.

Disk one contains the contents of A Poke In The Eye LP (including the Goodies performing Funky Gibbon).

The second CD contains additional material from the 1976 Amnesty International performance including an additional three Goodies songs, Cactus in My ‘Y’ Fronts, Mummy Mummy Mummy, and Sick Man’s Blues.

An interesting piece of trivia is that Graeme sings the lead vocal on this version of Cactus in My 'Y' Fronts, making this the only song on which all three Goodies have at some point been the lead singer.  Bill sang it in the radio show I'll Sorry I'll Read That Again; Tim took the lead in the version on the Goodies Nothing To Do With Us album and in the episode The Goodies - Almost Live.

The Adventures of Bananaman (Cassette)

Tempo – T.A.C. 9202

Four stories about cartoon character Bananaman read by Bill Oddie, Tim Brooke-Taylor, and Graeme Garden.

The story titles are Jaws of Steel, The Banana Kid, House on Hangman’s Hill, and Alien Planet.

I don’t know if this title was released on an album as well.

A Walk In The Black Forest / Nola

Artist: Horst Jankowski

Mercury 72425.  Copyright 1965.

While not a Goodies song, this single certainly deserves inclusion in a list of Goodies-related records thanks to the prominent role it plays in one of the most popular episodes, Radio Goodies.  In that episode the Goodies start a pirate radio station with only one record, A Walk in the Black Forest (though in the episode the flip side is A Walk in the Black Forest, Part 2).  Later the song is briefly heard in the Goodies episodes Lighthouse Keeping Loonies and Chubby Chumps.

This record is a representative example; the song was released on other singles as well as on at least one Horst Jankowski album and CD.
