Basia Mille is a C&C 29, built in 1977 and purchased new by its current owner at that time. Basia Mille's current summer berth is Pier 12 Marina in Philadelphia, just north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

The name Basia Mille in old Latin means "thousand kisses", and is taken from a poem by Catullus.

This C&C 29 was built by C&C Yachts Manufacturing in its Newport, RI factory.  Its specifications are: LOA  29'7"; LWL 23' 7"; Draft 5' 3"; Beam (Max) 10' 5"; Displacement 7,500 lbs; Sail Area (100% fore triangle) 430 sq. ft.

The hull and decks are fiberglass and the fin keel in lead.   The single mast is stepped on the cabin sole.

It is a sloop (rigged for main and jib) and is outfitted to carry a spinnaker on offwind legs. It has a high aspect ratio rig which is very sensitive to proper selection and trim of the sails.  It has a twin groove forestay and twin jib halyards to facilitate headsail changes when racing or cruising.

The engine is a water cooled (open loop system) Yanmar diesel inboard driving a twin-bladed Martec folding propeller.

There is a 20 gallon fuel tank, a 30 gallon water tank ,and head discharging into onboard holding tank.

Navigation and communcations gear includes: knot/log meter, fathometer, apparent wind indicator, Loran and VHF radio.

The cabin contains enough space to sleep 4 comfortably and as many as 6 if there are two sets of partners who do not mind sharing close quarters.
