Since the A server is down, this is where all of Jess Johnson's thesis work for Anezka and Barbara will go.

Site design: This temporary home to my thesis project wasn't able to load images, so to view the design for the website when the A server gets back up, check out the image at my blog.

Thesis Concept:

Right now, I have an idea for a concept, but I need to explore it a bit more. I was thinking of focusing on the changes in New York, possibly on one specific area in the city. I focused on the stereotypes of the area for my Major Studio project, and would like to continue focusing on the city and the overall changes it has gone through over the years, but exploration into the various areas would be necessary before deciding on an area. I am not sure where this will lead me, but I was thinking in terms of an animation, although the idea may change the format.

Analysis

Based on my previous research for my last Major Studio project, I became more interested in the image and the way that the city was viewed. From a previous project on the Meat Packing District, I became curious about the labels on specific areas of the city, and how they do or do not apply. Being a resident tourist in the area, I became interested in these labels which describe the city in not completely accurate ways, so I would like to take this idea and push it further to begin with, although it could lead me somewhere different.

cities, New York, change, evolution, animation, film, progress, transition, locations, labels/stereotypes

Audience

As of now, I am thinking of having this directed more towards young adults/teens at the youngest. I do not want to create something geared toward younger crowds.
