Learn the basics of classic mezzotint printmaking. We will prepare and hand "rock" copper plates using mezzotint
rockers. Learn how to burnish and scrape the image into the plate. Next, the plate will be inked and printed.
This class presents the traditional mezzotint printing process on copper plates. It is helpful to
have had some printmaking experience in other processes or some drawing experience. A lab fee is payable
to the instructor at the time of the workshop.

Learn Acrylyic Photopolymer Gravure using DuPont "Ultra" ultraviolet light sensitive
film. Students will laminate the etching plate, create artwork on mylar or use a photographic positive image on a transparency,
expose the plate, develop the plate, and then print the plate. This workshop will use the "non-etch" method to produce
an intaglio plate on copper or alternate support strata.

Learn the basic techniques
of creating an intaglio print using "Ultra" UV sensitive film that has been laminated to a printmaking plate. Learn
how to laminate the film, expose the artwork, develop the plate, then ink and print the plate. We will be using a 1,000
watt NuArc ultraviolet exposure unit and optical aquatint screen.
This process allows positive images created on mylar or transparent film to be transferred onto an inkable / printable
etching plate using a light-sensitive film in an ultraviolet exposure unit. Call for materials list. A lab fee
paid to instructor at time of workshop.

You will need to bring 2 projection transparencies with a positive of your artwork measuring 5"x7"
. This can be either a photograph or your drawn art. Drawings on mylar will also work.
