Luis A. Felicies, (referred to as ''Babaloo'' by friends ) was born in New York City to parents from Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Raised in the the Bronx, he attended elementary & secondary schools in New York City while spending summers with his grandparents in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

He is a graduate of the High School of Graphic Arts in New York City, formerly known as NY School of Printing. His undergraduate Liberal Arts studies were pursued in the Syracuse area at the State University of New York at Oswego, majoring in Broadcast Communications, Minor in languages. As a student, he began his studies in Audio Production & Mass Media by producing College Radio Jazz shows for the on campus radio station programing Jazz music: Urban Contemporary, New Jazz Lions, Straight Ahead, Be Bop. During his undergraduate studies he worked as an Associate Announcer - Board Operator for station WRVO FM90, Syracuse, NY (a National Public Radio Affiliate). He continued his work as an Associate Announcer- Producer on Western New York Public Radio at WNED-WEBR Buffalo Public Radio- Southern Ontario as an On-Air Anouncer Jazz Programmer for the popular show "Jazz in the Nighttime" in Buffalo, New York residing in Buffalo, NY & Toronto, Ontario Canada on assignment for a period of 6 years working in Public Radio.

A native New Yorker, in 1991 he returned to his native city to where he continued his studies in Mass Media as an intern in Audio Production at the Film Video Arts School in lower Manhattan. He continued to work brief assignments in Audio Production & Post-Production film work as a Production Assistant for Spike Lee's 40 Acres Filmworks film, "Girl 6".

In 1996, his music & audio production skills were featured on an assignment as a "music montage" at the Pratt Institute of Technology Art Exhibit: Jazz Y Sonl An Art installation of work by reputable Pratt Alumni artist such as: Candida Alvarez, Marlisa Anderson, Juan Sanchez, Yvette Cabrera-Vega, William T. Williams & Deborah Willis, *curated by Pam Ford @ The Rubelle Norman Schafler Gallery).

As a graphic designer by trade, he worked freelance while enjoying DJ'ing the lounge scene of New York's lower east side lounge circuit. He worked as a Funk & Hip Hop DJ and colloborated w groups of DJ Producers on events "G-Fource" with throughout NYC's lower east side. He is a member of the NYC Zulu Nation, an organization of DJ's, Rappers & Grafitti artist, whose roots in urban music are A list in the as a DJ in the NYC artist pool. He has been featured in the NYC Rocksteady Anniversary Events as a Graphic Artist & Beatmixing DJ with other NYC based artist.(Rocksteady is an organization founded by Rich Colon aka "Crazy Legs"; one of the founders of the street art of 1970's street culture of breakdancing).

In 1995, he created the Roving party " La Bomba Internacional". a weekly party focused on vintage Latin sounds ("SALSA") from the NYC perspective of Latino Beats in NY at the now defunct Baby-Chameleon Lounge. It was a roving party that went from various venues over a 4 year period traveling around the NYC to different venues programming Latin music until it was guest featured at S.O.B's w/ Pucho & Latin All-Stars BandL a night of Salsa-Latin Jazz & Boogaloo.

He has been featured as a guest Spoken Word Artist at the Jersey City Museum, New Jersey for the Albizu Project, reading the poetic work of Manuel Acevedo of acclaimed poet Martin Espada.The work of artist Manuel Acevedo explored the influence of poetry and Puerto Rican culture: Identity, History & Nationalism curated by Pamela Ford.

He has a wide array of experience in programming audio & urban music for various environments. His work assignment credits include, programmning audio for the 2002 Latin American Art Exhibit @ Christie's Auction House. He has had assignments with Whoopi Goldberg, Kelly Ripa & Art connoiseur Fred Dorfman
( Dorfman projects: Andy Warhol & Keith Haring projects), Fashion Designer Issey Miyake under assignment of GQ magazine & the Brooklyn Museum of Art Exhibit on the opening of artist Jean Michel Basquiat.


His work as a DJ has enabled him to do creative work producing "live audio mixes-music on the fly". Professional assignments include Live DJ mix on television sitcom sets at the renown Kaufman-Astoria & Silver Cup studios, Qns. NY, where he was retained by the studio producers to create montages of music & audio backdrops or "soundscape beds of music for standup & audience warmup acts " during a live taping of a comedy for NBC-4NY TV. He was contracted as personal DJ for Whoopi Golberg to provide music & audio programming during live takes ( live taping). He has also worked DJ assignments on Actress Kelly Rippa's ( of Regis & Kelly) "Hope & Faith " show.

His credits include set DJ-Audio-Producer for the live production taping on the sets of Whoopi Goldberg's, "WHOOPI" NBC-4 Fall Season (2003 - 2004) & Kelly Ripa's Fall Season ( 2003-2005 ) "HOPE & FAITH " ABC-7 situation comedies. He is sponsored by DENON Technologies.

Additional professional programming credits include public appearances events featured at the Brooklyn Museum of Arts: Basquiat Exhibit. DJ programmer of music for the "Target sponsored First Saturdays" on Afro Latino Music: A retrospective of Carribean music from Bomba to Salsa & Reggae along with MTV's Veejay Fab Five Freddy. Also featured at "El Museo del Barrio" in NYC's Spanish Harlem July 21, 2005 for the the Summer Nights festival along with artist as Luis Vargas, Ray Sepulveda & Los Amigos Invisibles, sponsored by Budweiser, NY Times, Jeep & Mega FM 97.9 & featured as a write-up in El Especialito Paper (Latino Press).


He presently works as an Independent Contractor of Audio: DJ-Producer of a Live Latin Music at the music venue Session 73,NYC where he produces weekly live music shows as DJ-Producer-A&R Booking Agent . More info: nycdjbrb@gmail.com
