Universal Service

Our time has come to be heard.
Postal privatization surrounds us.
Our jobs and Union are dangerously close to extinction.

It is time for our voices to join together as one.

Many of your fellow APWU sisters and brothers are organizing an event that cannot and will not fail.  The Republican National Convention is scheduled for August 31 through September 3, 2004, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

On August 31, we will meet at New York Metro's Union office at 350 West 31st Street, new York City at approximately 2:00pm.  Massive participation is required, and failure is not an option.

We are reaching out for your assistance.  We are asking for commitments.  A pledge of one person for every local in the country would guarantee that our message will be heard.

Travel or monetary costs due to the APWU National Convention in August must not be a deterrent.  A nationwide representation is fundamental to our message.  We hope that any local concerned with excessive travel costs or constrained by tight budgets would consider forsaking just one convention delegate and send a participant to this event.  A one or two day trip to New York would cost each local less than $1000 per person.  What local, if allowed the opportunity, would not send a $1000 check to COPA, written directly from their trasury?

We, as leaders of this great Union, must seize this chance to promote and protect the future of our jobs and preserve Universal Service.  The American people are on our side.  Our sisters and brothers on the workroom floor, although a silent majority, are on our side.  Our voices and spirits must be joined together in solidarity.

The time has come for our leaders to lead!

This event is meant to be inclusive of all postal employees and our supporters.  Sisters and Brothers from all Postal Unions are welcome and should be encouraged to participate.

Please send your ideas, comments or questions to Concerned Postal Workers @ PO Box 8490, Red Bank, New Jersey 07701.  Or you may contact us via e-mail.  We refuse to lay down and die because corporate interests seek greater profits at Americans' expense.  We refuse to be deterred in our efforts.  And we ask you to join us in our cause.  It is your cause, too.  Thank you.
