The Berkowitz Bunch - Est. 6/11/2000

Spring is coming! Warmer weather, kiddos outside, and renewal of all living things. It's a beautiful time of year - one that we are all very much looking forward to.

Many of you may know that 2008 was extremely rocky for The Berkowitz Bunch. We're in much better shape by far and slowly catching back up to life. A new year and the renewal of spring should put everything right. Bring it on!

So... about the fam: Richard and Valerie met in High School and were friends throughout. We started dating in early summer 1996 (was it technically still spring???) and found out that we had actually gone to Camp Wonderland together at age 5. What's cooler? We were in the same bunk, as our found bunk picture showed, and sat next to each other. Our relationship continued on until we moved in together in late 1998. We were married in 2000 - vowing to spend the rest of our lives together. Our families came together to form one huge loving circle.

In June 2003 we were blessed with our first child, Stone. He taught us that sleep deprivation does not come from camping out all night for the HFStival tickets - but tending to his every need. We learned that the immense love we had for each other as a couple also transformed into a wonderful love for our child.

In September 2005, Dylan joined our family. We learned that even though we had already had a child - nothing prepares you for the onslaught of sleep deprivation. Keeping one quiet as to not wake the other - and the beginings of sibling rivalry. We knew our hands were full...

In September 2007 Elizabeth was a welcome gift to our family. While at the time we thought "two is enough" - well let's just say we wouldn't have it any other way. She completed our household and our hearts.

Through the years, we have learned the true meaning of love, patience, and family.

The usual crazies... and a snow day

The kids are giving us the usual crazies - and keeping us busy as usual. When we heard about the large snow fall that was headed our way, we got a little excited for the kiddos. These past two winters have not given them much to play in!

Well, the snow started late Sunday night after the kids were in bed. We got to stay up and watch it for a little while. It was nice: a quiet house, just the two of us snuggled up on the couch, and a very beautiful snow fall out the back window. When it snows here, we can look out back and the rest of the world seems to dissapear. It's amazing.

The next morning the kiddos were out of school of course. They couldn't get outside fast enough! Once they were dressed up in their snow gear, we all rushed outside. Within 20 minutes Lizzie decided she wanted NONE OF IT. She was very worn out, cold, and upset. We brought her in and laid her down for a nap. Dylan wanted to bulldoze the whole driveway, but found out quickly that he too was very cold and tired of it. Stone on the other hand couldn't get enough.

We got a few pictures before it all fell apart. We came inside after the front had been shoveled (the boys spending most of the time playing in the shelter of the garage) and had hot chocolate. We printed out the pictures that had been taken, and decorated a "Snow Day" poster that we hung in the family room. The kiddos loved working on it.

Spring is coming!

And spring cleaning fever is starting to hit. Shall we start first with this web site? A fresh look is always good. So let's go with that, and we'll update you from there.

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back. Be happy always !!
