The
identity of the Bambara hunters is immersed in secret myth. They were given much
recognition in traditional villages. They frequently participated in welcoming
important visitors with dance and firing of their muskets. They also hunted with
the muskets. In one of the pictures below, they were gathered, but the guest
was late. A lady walked over to chat, casually asking how they hunted. They said that when they entered the forest, they became like another animal. The animal being hunted could look directly at them and would only see another animal
that was not a threat. As the animal grazed, they moved closer and closer. Each time the animal looked up, he still just saw an animal that was not a threat. When they got close enough, they would make the shot.
