      We all need to ask ourselves how these dismal global statistics will impact our own lives.  According to our research, we will all be faced with an increase in the number of hurricanes, widespread diseases, intensity of droughts and heat waves, as well as many economic consequences.  We must all take a closer look at our current environmental practices to ensure a healthier and more prosperous tomorrow.

WHO WE ARE:

      Save the Earth…Save Our Future is a campaign conceived, organized and staffed by a group of Thomas Jefferson Elementary students to promote sustainability and environmental awareness across Morristown and Morris Township.  Each member of our group has spent over five months researching and developing original exhibits to help create a heightened environmental awareness.  It is our hope that all citizens will listen to our message and change or modify their current environmental practices for the sake of all of our futures. 

      Some of the exhibits we have prepared for this special event include:  a compost demonstration, a carpooling network center that connects local commuters together, the ABC’s of CFL’s, a hybrid automotive demonstration, best practices on recycling, the top 20 ways all homeowners can become more environmentally friendly, benefits of converting your power source to clean power, and information about creating a flourishing backyard garden.

      We guarantee that everyone who attends will leave with a heightened awareness of the social, economic, and environmental impact of sustainability.

WHY YOU NEED TO ATTEND...

      In addition to gaining a heightened awareness of sustainability, Save the Earth…Save Our Future is proud to announce the many exciting giveaways that you will receive by attending this important event.

      A raffle will be held where participants can win a variety of wonderful products donated by over 40 Morristown and Morris Township businesses.  We have thousands of dollars of free products and gift certificates that are waiting to be given away thanks to the many gracious and generous companies that have contributed to our cause.  A complete list of sponsors can be viewed under our "sponsor" heading.  In addition, the first 200 attendees will receive a FREE T-shirt with Save the Earth…Save Our Future’s original logo printed on the back.

      Thanks to the generous support of Morristown Lumber and Supply Company as well as Domb Lighting, free CFL lights will also be given away to encourage homeowners to “flip” the switch on incandescent bulbs.  In fact, if everyone used CFL’s to light their homes, we would be able to retire 90 average size power plants throughout the United States.  In addition, participants will have the opportunity to test drive a Hybrid Prius and learn about the many benefits of owning this awesome technology thanks to Toyota of Morristown.       

      There's more… Environmentally friendly recycled grocery bags will be distributed, free of cost, to encourage shoppers to use these bags as an alternative to plastic bags.  We also have a special group of third grade students from Thomas Jefferson that have prepared several “activities designed by the kids for the kids.”  These activities will run throughout the event and follow the “Go Green” concept.  Static Cling stickers, complete with out original logo, will also be handed out to remind people to recycle their solid waste materials.

      We can’t tell you all of our secrets at this time, so you will have to attend to find out what else we have planned for the day!!
