In 1993, a woman of God announced to the our Bible Study class that the Lord had revealed to her that there was one among
us who would lead an army like Gideon's. She admitted that she did not know who it would be, but that God's Hand was upon
him. After class was over, she went into the prayer room located in the lower sanctuary of the church. When she came out,
she came to our pastor, who at that time had not even accepted the call on his life. She announced to him that she needed
him to join her in the prayer room. Stentorian prayers could be heard as the two of them spoke to the Lord concerning His
decision to anoint Brother Duane as the man who would lead this army.
Ten years later, while fellowshipping with our brothers and sisters in Christ in the living room of our home, the
Lord prompted Pastor Anderson to offer the financial seed that would begin the ministry that is now known as The Lighthouse
Christian Fellowship. Through faith and patience, the ministry was born. The Lord had previously given us the name of the
ministry when a year prior at midnight, a young girl rang our doorbell. She was running from an abusive boyfriend. She
stated that she had come to our house because the "Light was on". Little did she know that God had used her to confirm our
purpose.
Today, just as with Gideon's army (See Judges 6), many people have come and gone. Today, with nearly one-third of the
original members, we have been successful in reaching out to our friends, coworkers, and the community at large, with the
principles of the Kingdom. Our goal is not to teach people how to attend church, but how to manifest the Kingdom of God wherever
their feet trod. We realize that this is a very threatening stance, though Biblically accurate, because after all, Jesus was
crucified for trying to teach Kingdom principles to religious church people. Today, our ministry effectively crosses color,
religious, and gender lines. People from all different denominations join us at our monthly men and women's sessions. It is
amazing to see how the preaching of the Kingdom erases denominational barriers.
We are blessed that God has chosen us for this awesome opportunity to be a blessing to His Sons and Daughters.
