Many people are living with poor
health and emotional baggage and don’t know how to achieve the joyful and satisfying lives they desire. They’re stuck accepting a lifestyle of emotional trauma, chronic physical pain, compulsions and addictions,
or perhaps just an empty feeling inside.
In 1980, psychologist, Roger Callahan
accidentally discovered that a patient’s fear of being near the water caused her stomach pains and tapping on an acupuncture
point relieved the pains. Based on this discovery, Dr. Callahan began a series
of investigations and developed a technique termed Thought Field Therapy. Gary
Craig trained under Dr. Callahan in the 1990’s and then modified and simplified this technique that he called Emotional
Freedom Techniques (EFT).
The fundamental principle of EFT
is that “The cause of ALL negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” Physical pain and disease are intricately connected to negative emotions.
Unresolved emotional problems manifest themselves through physical symptoms.
The cause of the problem needs to be addressed, not the symptom. EFT restores
the body’s energy balance and as a result the negative emotions and physical symptoms that stem from the energy disruption
are mended.
EFT is modeled after acupuncture,
but does not use needles. Instead, healing is achieved through simply stimulating
the body’s meridians and energy flow by tapping on specific points with their fingertips. EFT is simple, painless and can be learned by anyone.
EFT uses light tapping on a few
strategic “comfort spots” on the face, upper body and hands, while you repeat selected words and phrases out loud
in a special way. What you say while tapping serves to get rid of any negative
emotions you may have and installs new, positive thoughts and feelings in their place.
You are actually implanting positive affirmations into your subconscious. The
key to the success of EFT is being persistent, patient and present with your affirmations.
Negative thoughts, feelings and
emotions are the core of people’s addictive problems, health issues, and lack of joy in life. The energy disruption caused by the unresolved emotional difficulties is the missing link to actually changing
your thinking and healing your feelings permanently. When the emotional issues
are addressed at the energetic level, the negative thoughts and issue disappears.
A negative emotion includes fears,
phobias, anger, grief, anxiety, depression, traumatic memories, worry, guilt and all limiting emotions in sports, business
and the performing arts. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a tool used in
my practice and I use it in my personal life. EFT can be applied to all issues,
including (but not limited to):
