"Anam Owili-Eger is way up there with the new school of multi-talented Philly singer songwriters. Warm, original, imaginative
soul-jazz music."
-Straight No Chaser Magazine, Spring 2007 Issue
"His voice is smooth, as are his words. There's an extreme potency within the subtleties, a simple complexity, definitely
an inspiring sound. With a hint of Ayers along with a portion of Wonder, Anam channels the energy of his great predecessors
without copying them. Anam sounds like Anam."
-Blogspot.com
"I would go so far as to say that Anam Owili-Eger is one of the best new songwriters of the past 10 years. In an
era where real songwriting seems to have been forgotten, Anam is a writer who truly is a craftsmen of song. Each word is specific
and on purpose...no filler here."
-Tim Dillinger, Stave Magazine
"A pure, soulful voice that immediately resonated in my ears."
- Lior Shamir, Managing Director, We Are Listening
Pianist, composer, lyricist, singer, arranger & performer...Anam Owili-Eger is a widely respected fixture in Philadelphia's
music scene, as well as an internationally critically acclaimed recording artist.
Anam's newest songs are currently in production at Studio Curve Dominant.
Through his idiosyncratic piano playing and his uniquely soulful voice, singer/songwriter Anam defies genres by weaving
a colorful fabric of soul, jazz, funk, folk and rock. With influences as diverse as Stevie Wonder, Sting, Tori Amos and McCoy
Tyner, Anam's brand of alternative soul music captivates audiences not only through his playing, but also through his introspective
and sometimes dark or political lyrics of love, loneliness, madness and mortality.
"It's important to me that each song tell a story," says Anam, a native of Philadelphia, PA. "Whether
it tells a whole one from beginning to end, or just offers a quick glimpse into someone's life, I think the best songs not
only take you somewhere musically, but also to another place and time."
Anam released his debut solo EP, These Subtle Declarations, in February 2006. His song, "The Moment," was a
finalist in the 2005 Singer/Songwriter Awards. "The Coin," was a semifinalist in the 2005 UK Songwriting Contest.
Anam fronts and writes songs for Blue Scheme, a jazz-rock band that he co-founded, and performs with Yellowbrain, a progressive
groove band, as a keyboardist, songwriter and singer. Anam appears on Yellowbrain's self-titled debut EP, and on Blue Scheme's
debut release, Interrobang.
An in-demand sideman, Anam frequently appears on keyboards accompanying such well-known musicians as multi-instrumentalist/poet
Elliott Levin, singer/songwriter Bruce Torres and singer/cellist Monica McIntyre.
An accomplished jazz pianist, Anam appears on Just When I Thought, the recent release from the Puzzlebox Experiment. He
has also written and co-written original music for three plays.
