1-Hands-On-Missions-
-We provide opportunities for Missions outside
of the church, and help members of the congregation become involved.
2-Financial
–
-We
develop a benevolence budget and recommend it to the finance committee, explain and promote special offerings like Neighbors
in Need, One Great Hour of Sharing, Christmas Giving Tree, Blankets and Tools, disaster relief and others. We also determine
allocation of the undesignated portion of the Global Missions budget for area organizations in need. Our budget includes mission
support of the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist Church.
-We
organize missions oriented fundraising activities like our annual yard sale, mystery dinners and restaurant sponsored gatherings
to raise money for MIHN and our Sister Church in Chile or others.
3-Education-
-We
educate the congregation about missions work of all denominations (UCC and UMC) and the United Parish. We invite missionaries
to present programs to educate all church families of the lifestyles and activities in their line of work.
We
are part of our church’s “governing body,” and keep COM members aware of the purpose and needs of programs
and institutions supported by the church.
We
are very active in the Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network, a local assistance shelter
for homeless families, keeping children and parents together during times of crisis.
