ST. JOHN'S SENIOR CITIZENS
Meet monthly (except July and August) on the 2nd Wednesday,
at 11:30 in Fellowship Hall. Bring a bag lunch - beverages are
served. All seasoned citizens are welcome!
TWELVE-STEP PROGRAMS
Self-help/support groups for persons dealing with addictions.
AL-ANON
For family and friends of alcoholics. Meets Friday nights, 8:00
- 10:00 in Church Library. A group also meets Monday afternoon, 12:30 - 1:30, in the Choir room.
ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS
Meets Wednesday night and Friday night at 8:00 in the 1st
and 2nd grade classroom.
SOCIAL MINISTRY COMMITTEE
The goal of the SM committee is to create awareness of human needs
with our communities and to be responsive to persons in need.
The committee coordinates workdays and volunteers for Habitat
for Humanity, and programs such as Thanksgiving Food Baskets,
Christmas gifts for children and senior citizens and personal care
items for women's shelters.
COMMON BOND
Common Bond is a non-denominational support group for widowed or divorced men and women over the age of 35. A variety of activities such as discussion groups, social meetings and potluck suppers are scheduled throughout the year in order to help meet people's needs.
KOFFEE KLATCH
Koffee Klatch is a social group for mothers with small children who are home during the day. The group meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month, giving mothers the opportunity to have adult conversation, refreshments, and fellowship with other mothers. There are also several activities and projects in the course of the year which the group does together. Babysitting is provided.
RETIRED MENS GROUP
The Retired Mens Group a.k.a. "Over-the-Hill Gang" meets at Otto's Restaurant on the fourth Thursday of each month for breakfast, fellowship and conversation. These men also help out around the church, cleaning up the parking lot, painting, and general maintenance when needed. Any retired man is invited to attend the breakfasts, and does not have to be involved with church projects.
WELCA
Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America meets monthly, giving working woman and retired women alike the chance to come together for fellowship, learning opportunities, service projects, and fellowship. The group meets the first Thursday of each month at noon.
