This is the original Metroid made for the NES. The graphics and gameplay were absolutely brilliant for the era it was released and Metroid sold millions of copies in 1986, 1992, and again in 2004 for the NES Classic series on the GBA. The large areas of exploration and the power up systems were better than all previous games and of course an interesting story made this game great. The wide variety of creatures is the reason this website exists featuring a huge cast of enemies. As I’ve said Super Mario Bros. Opened the door to great platforming adventures. Metroid blew that door off with a Missile.
