This garden is in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States:

  • On a one-block long, residential street located inside the Capitol Automobile Beltway about 1/2 mile from the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C.,
  • About half way between the Silver Spring and Bethesda central business districts, and
  • Near the Georgetown Branch Multi-use Trail (which will hopefully be converted into the Capital Crescent Trail), Rock Creek Regional Park, and Rock Creek National Park.

There is a meadow at the nearby Audubon Naturalist Society’s Woodend Nature Center, 8940 Jones Mill Road, Chevy Chase, Maryland 20815 that is managed in part for butterflies. This meadow is between the mansion and Jones Mill Road. Next to it, there is a plaque with some of Mark Garland's photos of the more common butterflies in the area.
