About my Astronomy Photos and
Orion MIN-EQ

All my Photos can not be used

without my permission.

All Milky Way Photos were Taken on 9/16/2003 Using my Olympus OM-1 Camera

With the G. Zuiko 50 MM Lens.

The F Setting I used was 2,8 and all Photos were Exposed for 5 Minutes.

I used Fuji Color Superia X-TRA 800 Film and I am Pleased with the results.

For Tracking I used the Orion MIN-EQ Tabletop Equatorial Mount with the EQ-1M

Electronic Drive Made by Orion.

I had to make my own counter weight because the one that is shipped with the

unit is too heavy ( 4.7 Lbs ) and too wide, 3 inches. ( Not Shown In Photos )

The Problem is the counter weight hits the drive motor because of the width.

I have contacted Orion about this problem and nothing has changed thus far.

This problem only happens when using a camera on the mount.

My Stainless Steel counter weight is about 2.5 Pounds,

1 & 5/8 inches wide and 4 inches long. ( see photos below )

The Star Trails Photo was taken about 2 years ago.

Exposure time was a half hour and it is a photo of the Pleiades in Taurus.

All moon Photos were taken thru a Mead 6 inch F-8 Starfinder with a

Mead Camera Adapter.

I did forget the film speed and type I was using but remember when doing

Moon Photos keep your exposure time under 1 second.

Remember, the moon is brighter than the day time sky.

If it were not, " you would never see it during the day time ".
