The Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 Miles Long and There are quite a Few Areas That
Are not So Vista like if you will.

1: I did not like the fact that ther are too many lookouts.
A lot of the lookouts are not lookouts at all, Just other facts and displays.
If you are A history buff than you will not mind these.
2: North Carolina has A lot of parkway roads closed. After dirving it for five years,
I have never found the parkway to be fully open in North Carolina.
3: Some of the lookouts are not well maintained, in other words trees block your
would be view.
4: When I see the sign Look Out Ahead, I think OK, how far can I see?
OH, it's another display.
Ok, now I will tell you about the Blue Ridge Parkway's best areas and what to avoid.
Thre Blue Ridge Parkway starts in Virginia on route 64 exit 99, this is going from
north to south.
Yor can drive this area all the way down to route 24 near Roanoke, Va. Approx the 110 mile marker.
Then I suggest you exit to Roanoke and find 81 South, because beyond this point most
of the parkway is dull and boring, not much to see.
Exit 73 off route 81 South to US-11 south to Route 21 south in Wytheville is my suggestion to get
back on the parkway, however; Note that this is a long way around.
You will connect with the parkway at Approx the 230 mile marker.
So you just saved yourself over 100 miles of not much too see.
From this point on the only other boring section is in Asheville, North Carolina where
the Parkway goes
flat and not much too see.
But soon after that you will reach the
highest point on the blue ridge parkway at over 6000FT.
My favorite places are mile marker 76-77, mile marker 300, mile marker 355 and mile marker 364 is the best.
I will not want to tell you why, but you will love these places. They are the best of the best.
OH, I almost forgot, You Must see the Little Switzerland Area in NC, Mile Marker approx 330.
