Our Charter:
We come together to share the enjoyment of camping. We hope to stimulate greater interest in camping while developing good practices and principles. We strongly support ecological awareness and reverence for the woodlands, forests and wilderness areas that are our heritage. We encourage decency and harmony within our organization and fellowship among campers. We stress safety in all camping endeavors and will aid fellow campers in need. To create enthusiasm for camping we will set a good example for other campers to emulate. We hereby form ourselves into the THE CAMPERS OF LONG ISLAND INC., D/B/A .

History of Our Organization:
The Campers of Long Island started out asThe Long Island Good Sams and is a Good Sam chapter and was founded in 1971. We hold our mettings at Battle Row campground in Old Bethpage Long Island, April thru Nov., and Old Bethpage Restoration, Dec. thru March, the first Thursday of the month. While striving to attain our stated purpose we aggree that, in this pursuit, this organization shall remain non-sectarian and non-partisan and demonstrate respect for all people. We shall not, as an organization, take part in political issues or affairs of state with the sole exception of those which exclusively affect the future of camping with respect to our defined ideals.
