This dime scale plane was built in April '05 from Dave Stott (on of
my modeling heros) plans published in Flying Models magazine.
The construction is straight-forward, and while I don't know the weight of
the completed plane, it is extremely light. Instead of attaching the struts with a 'flexible' adhesive like Sobo or RC-56,
I used Cya for all the attachment joints. Markings are a combination of hand drawn registration numbers and tissue striping.
The model needed nose weight to balance, so I switched to prop from the Ikara
indoor seen in the static photos, to a peck silver, seen in the outdoor photos.
The model was trimmed and flying very well at Wawayanda. You'll notice in
the photo of me holding the plane, that I added a small piece of tape to the rudder to increase the area of flying surface
- thanks to Michael Heinrich for that suggestion.
The model is flying very well now, and I hope to be able to keep it in my
hanger for awhile.
