Merely a 'flesh wound'

This kit was a 'test build' for the Dave Diels kit - just to make sure everything worked. It's another beautiful kit from Dave, and all the parts fit as advertised. It was completed in May '07.

The color scheme is from the Atlantic Fleet, and is from an anti-submarine warfare squadron based in Atlantic City NJ in late 1944. The tissue is white Esaki for the undersides, and blue/grey Easy-Built 'Lite" tissue for the upper surfaces. The numerals, as usual, are drawn by hand. The stars and bars are water slide decals included in the kit, and the dive brakes are peel off adhesive-backed stick on graphics.

Trimming glides and initial low-power flights proved promising. While returning from the flying field however, I had to stop suddenly in the car, and my flight box turned over on to the Helldiver and Cessna AW. Some day, I hope to get around to doing the repairs on the wing and stab.
