Retrieving the PT-19 from a ditch at Wawayanda -07

This plane is a lot of fun to build, and is a wonderful flyer. This was built from the dime scale plans by Mike Nassise, and was completed in Feb. '06.

I was really pleased with myself for using the magnets to attach the LG legs. It works really well - as long as you remember to pick up the detached leg from the ground before walking back to your stooge. You'll never find it if you need to go back to the spot where the plane landed. Don't ask how I know this. My suggestion, if you're going to try this attachment method, would be to also attach the legs with short lengths of thread that will act as a leash for the landing gear.

At Wawayanda in Oct '07, I was honored to win the "Harvey Wallbanger" award for the person who landed the most planes in the drainage ditches that crossed the field. You can see in the photo above, a scene that was replayed at least five other times during the weekend event!
