10.09.09:
Completed the model last night. The decals are waterslide. Finished weight is 34 gms w/o rubber motor.

9/03/09:
Most of the covering is complete - except for the cowl. I decided to attach the canopy in the stacked/ open position. Of course, this means that a machine gun needed to be added. The gun is built from balsa.

9.02.09:
Covering continues. I've got the wing fillets done - one of the parts I hate the most. I also hate to build engines. If you've looked around this site at other planes, you've seen examples of 2D engine drawings that are 'enhanced' with markers to look 3 dimensional. This plane is no exception.

8.25.09:
Tail feathers for the Midway scheme are complete. The control surface lines need to be added.

8.24.09:
Back on the SBD. The rudder stripes have been added. Base color of white tissue with red tissue stripes attached with gluestick.

8.02.09:
I'm going to set this porject aside for a bit and work on the Lockheed Orion. I need to come back to it soon however as it's going to be my WWII mass launch entry at the FAC Wawayanda, NY event in October.

7.31.09:
I've added wing fillets. I used watercolor paper, sanded thinner, cut to shape, soaked in water then pressed in place. Once dry, they hold their shape nicely, and can be attached with Ambroid or Sigment. In my opinion, they still add a bit of weight, so I'm not sure on how many more planes I'll be using this method.

7.23.09:
Sanding begins. Here's a mock-up photo.

This is another test build for Dave Diels. This time it is to check the 'fit' of laser cut parts.

This is being built as part of the Pearl Harbor / Midway Cookup currently running on the YAHOO Free Flight Cookup group site. It will be finished in either a Midway red / white striped rudder scheme, or yellow wing scheme.
