06.10.09:
Completed the Raiden - at least as far as I'm going to work on it. The weight as shown
(w/o motor) is 29.1 gms. The canopy is a bit thick and heavy, but that's because it was a 'beta' version for testing the parts
fit. This is another beautiful kit from Dave Diels.
Information about all of Dave's kits and plans can be found on his website:
06.05.09:
Tail feathers have been covered and hand drawn markings added.
06.03.09:
Covering of the fuselage has begun. The weight as shown is 16 gms.
05.26.09:
Added the wing fillets. These are made from watercolor paper that is cut to size, soaked in
water then pressed into the fillet location so it can 'dry' in the shape it needs to be. Once dry, it can be sanded thinner
and glued in place with cement.
05.18.09:
I've attached the wing to the fuselage after the outer panels were covered and 'wash-out' added
during the tissue shrink. The wing fillets are next, and I'll by trying the method Dave Mitchell has had great success with
- watercolor paper.
05.06.09:
Framework is complete. Cap strips will be added to the tail feathers, then sanding can begin.
The weight so far is 13.8 gms.
05.04.09:
The upper fuselage stringers have been added. The remaining will get added after the wing is
in place.
04.29.09:
This is the Dave Diels prototype for the laser cut kit. To save costs in laser cutting, the
keel and fuselage spars are made by the builder from strip stock (supplied in kit).
