le Fruit de Vie
~Steve N.~
http://dim.com/~zoundman/

For your tongue I give this brilliance
taken from the tree
for your eye I give this color
that you might think of me
I give to you this ripened skin
to burst upon your bite
I give to you this tart bouquet
and share this sweet delight
In the fullness and contentment
from filling all desire
may the feast you take your fill of
leave yet a glimmering fire
I would not wish this extinguished
by the nectars of these fruits
but your appetite be sharpened
for other sensual pursuits
The harvest and consuming
is as life is for the living
that we savor what we're given
and revel in the giving
So I give to you these pleasures
for your lips, tongue and eyes
and savor an equal measure
of this epicurean prize

I believe that everyone needs a mentor.
--Harry Bartholomew

We have all had mentors -- many of them, in fact. We might not have labeled them as such, but throughout our lives we have been picking up ideas and mannerisms from many people. From some, we sought to learn specific skills, perhaps on the job or while in school. A few inadvertently became our mentors simply because of our proximity to them. Along the way, we may have chosen some mentors impulsively and to our detriment. The process of mentoring is how most of us learn, ultimately. Have we forgotten that we, too, have served as mentors for many others who have shared our journey?

We obviously are not through living yet. Thus we are not through mentoring either. Every encounter we have with someone is mentoring in action. One moment we're on the learning end; the next, perhaps we're acting as teacher. Mentoring has always been a two-way street.

We have never been able to control another's mentoring, but we have always been free to choose or refuse to follow his or her example. What we can control, and this has always been true, is the content of our own mentoring. Are we satisfied that we've done our best?

Today I'll remember that my role as mentor isn't over yet.

Instructions to Painters & Poets
(How to Paint Sunlight)
~ Lawrence Ferlinghetti ~

I asked a hundred painters and a hundred poets
how to paint sunlight
on the face of life
Their answers were ambiguous and ingenuous
as if they were all guarding trade secrets
Whereas it seems to me
all you have to do
is conceive of the whole world
and all humanity
as a kind of art work
a site-specific art work
an art project of the god of light
the whole earth and all that's in it
to be painted with light

And the first thing you have to do
is paint out postmodern painting
And the next thing is to paint yourself
in your true colors
in primary colors
as you seem them
(without whitewash)
paint yourself as you see yourself
without make-up
without masks
Then paint your favorite people and animals
with your brush loaded with light
And be sure you get the perspective right
and don't fake it
because one false line leads to another

And don't forget to paint
all those who lived their lives
as bearers of light
Paint their eyes
and the eyes of every animal
and the eyes of beautiful women
known best for the perfection of their breasts
and the eyes of men and women
known only for the light of their minds
Paint the light of their eyes
the light of sunlit laughter
the song of eyes
the song of birds in flight

And remember that the light is within
if it is anywhere
and you must paint from the inside

Here Now
~Ralph Marston~

What you need for this moment, you already have. Everything else is a delightful bonus.

There is nothing for which you must strive. For you are here, and alive, and aware and able.

There is no reason for worry or anxiety. There are so very many ways that you can choose to make a difference.

There are no pressures, no demands, no regrets and no struggles. There is only now and the opportunity to fully live it.

In this moment, let go of the illusion of need and you are truly wealthy beyond all measure. Realize that lack and limitation exist only in your mind, and you'll see that you can instantly be free of them.

The whole universe is yours in this moment, to live, to experience, to transform into value and fulfillment. All the best that you could ever imagine is here for you now to bring to life.
