Becoming a Source of Light
Meditation by Orin and DaBen
As I breathe in I imagine
I am breathing in light.
moving through me
riding on my breath.
into every part of my body.
There is a perfect circulation
of light within and through me.
light out to the world.
The light around me is growing.
by having the intention to do so.
I imagine its magnificent presence
surrounding me with its beautiful light.
I feel my soul's power and love.
I draw in my soul's light.
It comes into every part of my being.
with my soul's light.
I transmit my soul's light to the world
as it pours through me.
from the higher dimensions.
I think of all the high beings of light
who are broadcasting light to humanity.
light the Enlightened Ones are sending.
As I receive their light
I affirm that I will use it
for my spiritual growth
and for the good of all humanity.
the soul of the sun--
the light of beauty and oneness.
I fill myself with Solar Light.
and circulate it throughout
my aura, my cells, and my body.
I send Solar Light out to the world.
I am becoming a radiant source of light.
I imagine the light of the Pole Star,
the star of direction and purpose,
flowing into me.
As I fill up with this light,
I now radiate this light
of direction and purpose to others.

As I draw in light,
I become a radiating source of light.
I now stay connected to the light.
I automatically draw in light
with every breath in.

I radiate light to them.
As I think of them I fill myself with light.
I transmit the light of my soul,
the light of the Enlightened Ones,
the Solar Light, and
the light of the Pole Star to them
simply by thinking of them
as I call light to myself.
I am a source of light.
I am becoming a light
that lights the way for others.

Losing self-will
"Our egos, once so large
and dominant, now take a back seat because we are in harmony
with a loving God. We find that we lead richer, happier, and
much fuller lives when we lose self-will."
Basic Text p.101
Addiction and self-will go hand in hand. The unmanageability that we admitted to in Step One was as much a product of our self-will as it was of our chronic drug abuse. And today, living on self-will can make our lives just as unmanageable as they were when we were using. When our ideas, our desires, our demands take first place in our lives, we find ourselves in constant conflict with everyone and everything around us.
Self-will reflects our reliance on ego. The only thing that will free us from self-will and the conflict it generates in our lives is to break our reliance on ego, coming to rely instead on the guidance and power offered us by a loving God.
We are taught to consult spiritual principles, not our selfish desires, in making our decisions. We are taught to seek guidance from a Higher Power, one with a larger vision of things than our own. In doing this, we find our lives meshing more and more easily with the order of things around us. No longer do we exclude ourselves from the flow of life; we become a part of it, and discover the fullness of what recovery has to offer.
Just for today: I seek freedom from ego and the conflicts generated by self-will. I will try to improve my conscious contact with the God of my understanding, seeking the guidance and power I need to live in harmony with my world.
