The Twelve Steps of a Relapse

1. I decided I could handle any emotional problems if other people would just quit trying to run my life.

2. I firmly believe that there is no greater power than myself and anyone who says differently is insane.

3. I made a decision to remove my will and my life from God, who didn't understand me anyway.

4. I made a searching and thorough moral inventory of everyone I know, so they couldn't fool me and take advantage of my good nature.

5. I sought these people out and tried to get them to admit to me, by God, the exact nature of their wrongs.

6. I became willing to help these people get rid of their defects of character.

7. I was humble enough to ask these people to remove their shortcomings.

8. I kept a list of all the people who had harmed me, and waited patiently for a chance to get even.

9. I got even with these people whenever possible except when to do so would get me into trouble.

10. I continue to take everyone's inventory and when they are wrong, which is most of the time, I promptly make them admit it.

11. Sought through the concentration of my willpower to get God, who didn't understand me anyhow, to see that my desires were best, and He ought to give me the power to carry them out.

12. Having maintained my emotional problems with these steps, I can thoroughly recommend them to others who don't want to lose their hard-earned status, but wish to be left alone to practice neurosis in everything they do for the rest of their days.

The goodness deep within
~Ralph Marston~

Be honest with yourself. And you will see the wonder that is all around you. Drop any pretense of cynicism. And allow your spirit to marvel at the exquisite, graceful beauty in even the smallest of things.

Much of what you long for is already well within your reach. Let go of the doubts, fears, and assumptions that keep you locked out of life's best possibilities.

Look at the world with eyes full of wonder, gratitude, hope and purpose. What you truly desire is exactly the same as what you are destined to accept and create.

Become comfortable and familiar with the goodness that is deep within you. It resonates perfectly with the intractable goodness that holds the world together.

Though there may be constant turmoil on the surface of life, all is well deep within. Connect with the goodness that is inside you, and you'll discover the positive possibilities all around.

What's right with your life
~Ralph Marston~

There are plenty of things that are right with your life. Have you thought about any of them lately?

The goodness in your life is so much a part of you that you can easily take it for granted and rarely give it a second thought. On a regular basis, though, it pays to think about that goodness.

Whatever else may be going on in your world, the fact is that you are extremely blessed in many ways. Think about those blessings that blend quietly into the background, supporting and sustaining you in every moment.

Think for a little while about what's right with your life. The more often you connect with the value that's already yours, the more new value you will create.

When you feel that the troubles and frustrations are dominating your thoughts, stop and turn your mind in a more positive direction. Remember that wherever your thoughts go, the rest of you will quickly follow.

Focus your awareness on the many good things that make up your life. For with your nurturing, those good and valuable things can indeed grow into greatness.

The message is hope. The promise is freedom. Just For Today, you never have to use again.

"This is what surrender is: a heartfelt belief in our fallibility as human beings, and an equally heartfelt decision to rely on a Power greater than our own."

Peace.
