On January 13, 2007 we answered a plea from someone who had had two approximately eight week old kittens trapped/neutered
in their yard by a Philadelphia TNR ( trap-neuter-return) group. The babies were then scheduled to be released back
outside. We decided that these babies deserved a chance and were willing to take them and work with them in the hopes
of finding them fur-ever homes.
Linus and his brother, Charlie Brown, arrived at one of our veterinary hospitals for a thorough examination and
then off to foster care where we went to work socializing them and getting them ready for adoption. It took a bit
of time, and there were setbacks as they became ill with an upper respiratory infection. We never received any
medical documentation from the trapping organization. Nonetheless, those of you who know us, are aware that we
are committed to providing the very best veterinary and foster care, so we set out to teach the babies their social skills,
have them monitored by our veterinary team, and finally Linus and Charlie Brown were ready for prime time.
Last week, we visited the vet again to update their vaccinations, as Linus was scheduled for adoption.
Unfortunately, it was at this time that one of our veterinarians heard a heart murmur and quickly had
another ER vet confirm her findings. The doctors ran some blood tests and a cardiology consultation was
scheduled for this past Tuesday.
Unfortunately, for Linus, the news is not the best. An echocardiogram shows he is suffering from Hypertrophic
Cardiomyopathy which is a progressive cardiac disease that will significantly shorten his life span. His potential
adopters were informed and it is understandable that they could not commit to adopting a kitten that may not live very long.
Linus will require follow up echocardiograms, further visits with our veterinary cardiologist and possibly medication.
The saddest part of all is that he has blossomed into one of the sweetest little boys you could possible meet.
Little Linus will remain with us in foster care and be loved and we will see that he receives the best quality
of life we can offer him for however long we are blessed to have him with us. On behalf of Linus, we are asking
for help in the form of donations to help defray the costs associated for his cardiac care to date and what which
will be upcoming, as not to take away from the many foster cats in our care at present. If you you would like to sponsor Linus,
please send your tax deductible donation to:

Hi Everybody! I have been been having so much fun this week that I almost forgot
to let everyone know how I am doing! Well, I moved since last week. I have a brand new foster home with my
new Momma Gwen and My Daddy Joe...and boy, are they spoiling me!!!! I have four new kitty brothers,
Jake, Riley, Danny and Nicky and do I love them!!!! We have lots of fun together all day long and sometimes Riley even
gives me a proper kitty bath! I have so many toys here and beds to nap in and one of my favorite things to it play with
my momma's gym bag. I just love my new foster family and I know I am just one very lucky little boy! I am feeling
pretty good right now, but I can't understand why my momma keeps watching over me after I play and even when I'm napping...something
about that broken heart of mine, I guess. Until next time....Linus

Happy St. Patrick's Day everybody! It's has been a few weeks and I promised all
my friends updates so here goes....Time really does go by really, really fast when you're having fun! Guess what?
I have a new best friend, Riley. He is my favorite brother and we do EVERYTHING together. I really love him and
he does all a big brother is supposed to do. We play lots of games and run through the whole house like holy terrors
with the rest of the crew. I love to lounge in the front window with some of my brothers and watch the goings on out
front...it's like being on the boardwalk at the shore! My house is so cool...we have a special enclosed porch in the
back with lots of things to climb on and do I get to do some really good bird watching! My momma smiles a lot since
she knows how much fun I am having and I can't imagine having a better life than being right here. I am getting
bigger and love to eat. I was such a good boy too when my momma and daddy trimmed my nails...well, I think I was
good...I had many cat things to do so after the eighth one, I was off and running! I know a secret too...I
heard my momma say she was gonna make me a brand new scratching post...just for me!!! I am feeling pretty
good and so far am not too tired when I run around and play. It is gonna be Easter soon. I don't
really know much about this, except I think that's the day when all the bunnies dress up and have a parade. Soon
I will take some new pictures so everybody can see what a big boy I am getting to be so stay tuned. Keep me in your
prayers and until next time...
Love,
Linus

Hi Everybody,
Too much fun at my house so I have been a a naughty boy for not letting everyone know
how I am doing. Well, it was time for me to see my heart doctor last week and my foster mom and dad were very worried
they would get bad news. Everybody was so nice at the hospital where I went and I just love my heart doctor! I
love her even more now, because she said that I am doing okay and my ticker has not worsened, I don't need any yucky medicine
and if anything, my ticker may have improved a bit. See what all those prayers you said for me did???? Well, my
momma and daddy are very happy and so am I ! My doctor, who I decided is my very special Fairy Godmother, said
I should start planning my first birthday party! Isn't that the best news ever???? I really
want to have a party at Chuck E Cheese, but momma says cats
aren't allowed. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Well, I'll
just have to do some thinking on where I can do some celebrating with all my friends. Keep those prayers and positive
thoughts coming my way. I am off to play with my kitty brothers...
Headbonks and Love,
Linus
