Council 5257 Building Projects Update
On behalf of the Columbian Club I'd like to thank you
all for your very generous donations to the Building Fund. If you've been to the hall lately, you've surely noticed that your
donations were put to good use.The new ceiling makes the main room look bright and updated, but it made the walls look pretty
sad. So thanks to a steady stream of volunteers the old wallpaper was removed and the walls were spackled, sanded and painted.
(Those old walls took 3 coats of paint!). Terry Hughes made it his mission to restore the paneling and chair rail. It was
a big job to sand and restain all the wood, but now everything looks great! The registers were also cleaned, primed and repainted.
In addition, 2 Smoke Eaters and 4 new speakers were installed in the ceiling.
The new look of the hall hasn't gone unnoticed by the community. We've had a lot of interest
in the use of the hall and have many dates booked into the spring. Our goal is to have the hall support itself through the maintenance
fees, so that we can then concentrate on The Knights of Columbus main mission of giving back to the community. Thanks to our
generous members who have donated money and or time, we are fast approaching that goal, but there are still several projects
that need to be done.
The next project will be to renovate the bathrooms. We have
some donated materials, and we're blessed to have members who are anxious to donate their time and talent to work on this
project.
On behalf of the Columbian
Club if you havne't been down to the Hall come take a peak at the newly renovated areas, the work in progress is the new womens
bathroom. The mens are next!
