This site contains pictures and descriptions of the dodger installed on 26 April 2006 by Neil Thurston of Thurston Canvas - Bristol, RI for J/30 #348 - Rhapsody

The original dodger was in very bad shape.  The windows were clouded and cracked, the fabric was faded white, and the plastic covered aluminum frame was "bubbled" due to corrosion underneath.

Neil met with me in February at their loft in Bristol and described available options so decisions could be made.  The frame would be upgraded to stainless steel, and instead of a webbed strap used to keep it taught, a deck fitting would be installed so an extension on the stainless frame could be anchored with a quick release pin.  The dodger would be extended forward for a more gradual slope, and extend further aft by about 6" for better cover over the companionway.  The fabric selected was Pacific Blue Sunbrella to complement the blue waterline stripes and match the sail & tiller covers.  In late February, Neil met me on Rhapsody to take measurements and discuss mounting location alternatives.
