Our names are William and
Michael, and we are 7th-grade students at the Bartlett Community Partnership School/UMass
GSE Professional Development School in Lowell, Massachusetts. We were accepted to participate as members of the People to People Student Ambassador Program to Europe in the summer of 2007. The objective of the program is to promote international understanding
while building leadership skills among America’s
youth. The 20-day experience includes interaction with other students our age, educational meetings, historical tours, and home stays with host families in
France to learn about French home life.
We also attend monthly meetings prior to traveling to learn more about the cultures we will be experiencing and our fellow
delegates.
Please visit the Student Ambassadors link
above for more details about the People to
People Student Ambassador Program.
We are honored to have been selected after being interviewed and
evaluated. Personally, we are looking forward to learning more about European history
and culture while sharing our American history and culture, especially Lowell's history. As Ambassadors, we can also earn high school and college credit because of the many educational elements in our
program.
We will share our preparation for this adventure here on this website
and will plan to share our journal, photographs, and experiences with our contributors upon our return.
