My Bio

Gina Giuliano is a freelance writer, educational consultant, and life-long
resident of upstate New York. She also is a college instructor, graduate advisor, museum volunteer, and former educational
administrator. She holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University at Albany, SUNY, a B.A. degree in U.S.
History from SUNY Oneonta, and a Master of Public Administration degree, also from SUNY Albany. Her dissertation was entitled
An Analysis and Assessment of the State University of New York Mathematics Alert Program. She is especially interested
in the history of public education in the United States, and educational technology.
Her work has appeared in The Roswell Literary Review, Kaatskill Life, The Daily Freeman, and Visions and Voices. She is the author of Education: Reflecting Our Times? (2002, 2004, 2006). She has written many publications
for SUNY, and she was the assistant editor for five issues of the education journal The AASA Professor. Current work consists of short stories and essays, and A Visit With Mimmie: Catskill Mountain Recipes, a cookbook
that is based on the collection of her grandmother, Ann Eckert.
She spends weekdays in an old house in Castleton-on-Hudson, New York, and weekends
at a new house in Samsonville, New York, with her husband, Robert Schmidt, their former shelter dogs, Sam and Sophie and cats
Edna and Ande, former strays. In addition to writing, she enjoys organic gardening, being around animals, using computers,
watching movies, and reading. Her favorite author is Mark Twain.
