My Mission

My mission in life is to enjoy my art and hobbies and share them with others, especially children. The purpose of this site is to show you my pumpkin carving hobby and give you an idea of my personal enjoyment and successes in this seasonal fascination I have with the art of giving a pumpkin a face.

Please enjoy my photos, and if you would like to have me join your group activity, function, or party so your friends can enjoy watching me carve (or carve with me!), please contact me and we can work out how to do it. My prices are extremely reasonable, and I am willing to barter on occasion, so give it a shot! I can serve almost anywhere in the New England area given enough notice (and travel expenses!). Thanks for visiting my site, and Keep Carving!

Just a bit about my demo packages:  Although my setups are very flexible, and I can usually accomodate almost any space available, I have several choices which have proved to be well recieved.
1) The Giant Carving: In this one, I simply carve as big a pumpkin as I (or you) can get my hands on , pausing occasionally to rest and let folks take photos of their families with the carving. This kind can take up to 4hrs, and is great for street fairs and schools. The finished pumpkin can be raffled off or given as a door prize!
2) The Totem Pole: In this demo, children make chalk drawings on black paper, and I choose designs which I feel suit the pumpkins I(or you) have brought. As each design is chosen, the artists name is placed on a bulletin board, and the pumpkin carved and stacked on a pole. (The pumpkin at the bottom is largest, and the top one smallest.) If the client desires, prizes can be given to the children whose designs are chosen for the totem pole. This demo is great for younger crowds or classrooms!
3) The Storyteller: In this one, a story can be read or told while I carve an appropriate piece to match the chosen story. This one is great for libraries!
PRICES: $20.00 per hour of carving, or $50.00 per day (plus the cost of pumpkins if I am asked to purchase them.) I insist on creative license in creating my carvings, and charge double for corporate logos or designs not my own creation. (Sorry about that, but I prefer to have fun when I carve!) I'm usually booked by September 15th each year, so contact me early!

About me:

I have been carving pumpkins for demos and pleasure since 1995. I am a graduate of Bradford College (class of '91), with a Magna Cum Laude in Creative Arts; I have been a Tour Guide, Birthday Party Coordinator and Special Activities Coordinator, and I love Science-Fiction and Horror Movies, Weaving Necklaces, Building Scarecrows, and Birdwatching. I am 52 years old, with a very understanding husband and a fine son, who is 23.

I have demonstrated my carving skills at schools, fall festivals, and street fairs, and still do!
