Landscape photography has been a focus of mine over the last
ten years. It has enabled me to stand in some of America's most dramatic settings and concentrate on the beauty around me.
I am particularly drawn to the colors and geometric patterns in nature. My goal is to not merely document the scene, but to
transmit the essence of the place.
Most of the photographs are made using a Canon EOS 35mm camera, Fuji Velvia
slide film, and a Gitzo tripod. I scan the slides, use Photoshop to restore the look of the slide, then print on an Epson
inkjet printer. Since my trip to the Smokies in April 2005, I have used a digital 35mm Canon 20D to
capture my images. Most of the photos are taken at sunrise or sunset, when the warm colors of the sun enhance the natural
scenes.
