Fli Calendar: Professional Development Opportunities

As part of the LR/RI mini-grant, Liz and Karisa are hosting a teacher share (from area organizations).  It was originally planned for Tuesday, April 4th, and this was the date listed in the last Fli Paper.  However, the tech lab at South Providence isn't available.  The new date is Tuesday, April 11th from 2:00-3:30.

 

Schedule for RIFLI Staff Online Technology Discussion :

Get on board!  A series of discussions will be held via www.nicenet.org on the following topics and dates.  Details of how to logon and participate will be sent to all staff prior to the first discussion.  Remember you only need access to the Internet to participate.  You can take part at any time of day.  We are counting on EVERYONE to join in -- all comments, questions, suggestions, etc. are welcome in the discussions.  

Strategies and tools for using the computer to help with writing for beginner ESL students. Moderated by Karisa Tashjian. March 20-31  

Computer activities, software and websites for the children in our program including family activities. Moderated by Liz Westhead. April 3-14  

Using email with our students. Moderated by Karisa Tashjian. April 17-28  

Productivity software lesson plans - use of Microsoft Office programs and integrating them into ESL lesson themes. Moderated by Liz Westhead. May 1-12

 

Many thanks to the following RIFLI staff members who have volunteered for the RIFLI Student Celebration Committee: Chris Bourret, Evelyn Castillo, Sherry Fiaux, Jenny Goodrich, Naomi Ninneman, Karisa Tashjian and Liz Westhead.  We are going to plan one rockin' event!  If you would like to join the Committee, please contact Karisa. The RIFLI Celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 23, from 6-7:30 at South Providence. Mark your calendars!

 

We will next take up the issue of rubrics, assessment & capturing students successes “live” at our RIFLI staff retreat on June 2nd from 9-4. Mark your calendars!
