Karen was a graduate of Perry Hall High School, Baltimore
County. Karen then attended Morgan State. While in pursuit of her degree, she spent her summers working as
a supervisor and mentor for youth in the Baltimore City Summer Youth Work Program. After receiving her degree Karen
began employment as a Physical Education Teacher with the Baltimore County Public School System. Karen later attended
Loyola College and received her Master of Education Degree in 1998. She was a mentor to newly hired teachers of the
Baltimore County School System. Karen was a member of the John Hopkins University Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International
Organization.
Karen was
a member of Asbury Broadneck United Methodist Church. There she sang in the Chancel Choir and served as choir director.
She sang with family groups, the Harmonettes, the AG Gospel Singers and the Stansbury Singers.
