The Karen Ann Stansbury - Brown Memorial Scholarship Foundaion,
Inc. was established on March 17, 2001, as a non - profit corporation under Maryland code 501c (3) in remembrance of
a woman who was a mentor, educator, wife, friend, sister, and daughter. Karen was a Physical Education teacher
at Woodmore Elementary School in Baltimore County for 10 years. She was a mentor for new teachers during the last two
years of her life. Her goal as an educator was to become a principal. She was also one of two women who
established the health fairs in the Baltimore County School system. Karen was also a Morgan State University alumnae.
She passed away in January 2001 from breast cancer. This scholarship is a vehicle for her family and friends to keep
her memory alive and to help other students achieve their goals through education.
