Spirit Communication

A lot of folk think that religious traditions are written in stone like the instructions recieved by Musa on the mountain directly from God. Religion and tradition are two completely different things. Religion is culture based and it is an integral aspect of one's lifestyle. We live our religions-  we just don't put symbols of the Gods up on a shelf for decoration.

We who are involved in ancestral practice give honor to those in our family who have passed over to the “other side”. In fact we consider them to still be alive and a functional part of the family.

We do not call our own deceased kin spirits even though that is what they are. They are attached to a name and an image. They look like us and we remember them when they wore  fleshy robes. We have their stories and we attend them at our altars.

Seances/ Misas
Spirit Possession

It is  dead who are not our blood kin that we call “dead spirits”. We may not know their name, their history or when they lived. We go to “seances” in order to identify the spirits who are around us. Seances allow us contact with spirits of the dead and give us information about their nature and intent. Possession of a medium allows the spirit to become embodied in human form and interact wih us directly. They offer us the means to fine-tune  our sensitivity and ensure that the Spirits who live on the perimeter of  our  personality / auras are positive and evolutionary influences.

Some of these Spirits are related to us in other ways not of blood but by bond of word or pledge. We can think of them by analogy as being like our fraternal, professional, trade or organizational ties. In the case of the spirits these connections span generations and what some call “past lives”. Whatever the connection we do not ever serve or interact with these dead spirits on our ancestral altars.

Death is not the end. We say that love never dies. Our spiritual entourage may include past  lovers, children, best-friends who act as guardians and advisors and who continue to love and protect us. It may also include  those we were linked to as enemy or opponent, who continue to block us and wish us ill.

We  made and still are making permanent ties that the death process cannot sever. Blood is thicker than water, but the blood of our past lives is washed in the waters of Spirit and it leaves a trace or a stain on the immortal atom or permanent aspect of the soul.

Our “old ties” can help us or they can hang us. We determine that as we  work on ourselves and our character weeding out the signals we recieve which try to influence us. Spirit communication happens all the time in the realm of mind. We want to preserve the good and to circumvent the negativity when we plot out our course in life.

Divination

Free-will is not free, rather  it is earned. We use divination  to make sure we  move towards our greatest good and not in response to the dictates of  conflicting or contrary forces. For millennia  the dark people had their own methods of spirit communication.
